Multi-protocol file server
This project involves developing kernel software
for a Network Attached Storage which can be directly
attached to a network via fiber, ethernet, gigabit
ethernet, etc. It is powered by a Real-Time Embedded
Operating system. It supports various file access
protocols such as NFS, CIFS (Common Interface
File System), FTP, etc., among a host of other
OS features and technologies.
File Systems
An ongoing project since March 2000, this development
project is in the file system component, the Virtual
File System layer, NFS, CIFS, and other related
modules. The major development so far has been
file system quota support along with numerous
other activities.
Services at Volume Layer
This component provides logical partitioning
of data storage devices. We are developing various
data protection services including point in time
snapshot of a given data storage and copy of data
of Primary site to the Secondary site. Sites could
be placed locally or remotely and replication
is IP based.

Admin Interface provides a simple web-based
management tool to configure, administer,
and monitor the server environment.

SMI-S is the storage management initiative
specification. It has been developed by the
Storage Networking Industry Association to
create a common approach to managing different
storage products. |
